New Eden exists within a large protective dome called the Firewall. This is the only inhabitable and known world to Keepers, dubbed the New Eden Safe Zone.
The above map was created to indicate the different areas of New Eden and how they are relatively positioned to one another. Included within the New Eden TTRPG, it is a living document that will be explored in more detail and improved upon over time.
Indications using astronomy point to an area near the Kashmir region, but archival data is inconsistent and there are records that mention a few different locations around the globe.
It is clear that the area was not heavily populated before the events of the Flicker and formation of the New Eden Safe Zone, with just the Kai-processing plant now called the Keep as a pre-existing landmark in the 40,000+ km² region.
Beyond the operational district surrounding the Keep, there were no other known populated areas from before the Flicker that survived… except a few small nomadic settlements and indigenous homesteads, including some in the region around Lake Kairos. The cities and other prominent locations found today were all formed during the early years of the safe zone.
Because of this, the exact location of New Eden defies certainty. This is seemingly by design, with signs of deliberate censorship of the historical record during the century since the safe zone was formed.
Organised attempts to explore outside the Firewall dome have shown a high degree of unpredictability in mapping the surrounding area beyond a few kilometres. There are numerous theories as to why, but no clear answers. Refugees entering the safe zone across generations have brought cultures and stories of journeying from all over the globe, further confusing the issue.
The full effects of the Flicker and its ultimate source remain unknown, but whatever the truth it appears to have caused a great deal of geographic and temporal instability. Understanding why has become a lifetime of investigation for many seeking more tangible truth about the New Eden Safe Zone and its purpose.
The beacon of the Keep shining brightly is salvation for those needing sanctuary from the devastation of the world outside, but it is also a pilgrimage from which it seems nobody can easily return…
